MY PRACTICE

PHILOSOPHY

Dee Cox, psychotherapist, smiling
Mindworks Therapies logo, connected cogs in purple hues

With more than 20 years in private practice, I have the experience and tools you need to begin to make positive changes to your life, your relationships and yourself - from our very first session.

I offer face to face therapy (known as talking therapy) including tele-therapy or distance therapy to clients throughout the UK. Therapy can take place via secure video chat on whatever device you feel most comfortable.

I employ a vast array of therapeutic techniques, some of which I have personally developed to ensure positive progress from your first session.

My approach to therapy is both Holistic and Humanist. I believe that the Person matters above all, regardless of their current issues or diagnosis and that this philosophy positively influences the Therapeutic Relationship.

To this end, I am a professionally qualified as a Reiki Master Healer/Teacher in the Usui System of Reiki, and hold numerous other qualifications, all of which are employed in support of my Humanist, Holistic approach.

Above all, I want what is best for you.

THERA-WALKS

As part of my own journey, I decided to adopt a healthier lifestyle during the Covid Pandemic lockdowns. As a result, I have lost over eight stone in weight and have regained both energy and focus. I am now an avid walker and amateur photographer and love to get out in (almost) all weathers to clear away my cobwebs.

As a result, I am now able to offer local Thera-Walks (also known as Walking Therapy and Eco-Therapy) for those clients who would like to join me on a walk for their therapy session, rather than attending my office. The cost of these sessions is the same as an office-based session, but benefits include fresh air, being in nature, exercise, escape from distractions and so much more.

Thera-Walks are limited and subject to availability.

PHILOSOPHY

WHATEVER WE CAN IMAGINE, WE CAN BECOME

CAN THERAPY HELP ME?

Therapy can help with all areas of your life - from your past to your present - and into your future.

People pursue counselling and therapy for a variety of reasons. Some may enter therapy to address major life changes, such as divorce, and others may seek help in managing mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, or a host of other issues you may be struggling with.

There's a common misconception that people who go to therapy are "crazy," when in fact, most therapy clients are ordinary people struggling with common, everyday issues, and in most cases, overcoming them with the right professional support.

Many people seek counselling because they have identified specific goals or issues that they wish to work on. Others may be encouraged by family, friends, or medical professionals to seek professional help, and in some cases, a person may be mandated to attend therapy as part of a court ruling or by a parent or guardian (if the person is a minor).

Whatever the impetus, it takes courage to attend therapy, and it takes dedication to see it through. Together, the client and the therapist will determine the goals of therapy, and if the therapy should be short- or long-term. In many cases, the therapist and client will explore much more than just the client's presenting problem - the issue that first brought the person to therapy.

Some of the issues commonly treated in therapy include:

Phobias and Fears, Stress, Depression, Suicide, Self-Harm, Eating Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Childhood Abuse, Domestic Abuse & Violence, Relationships, Addiction, Drug Abuse, Alcohol, Anxiety, Body Image, Mental Health Issues, Bullying & Harassment, Work Issues, Caregiver Issues, Chronic Illness & Disability, Compulsions, Self Esteem & Image, Family Issues, Fear, Gambling, Gender & Identity, LGBTQ+ Issues, Neuro-Divergence Issues, Grief & Bereavement, Hoarding, Internet Addiction, Life Goals, Midlife Crisis, OCD / Obsessions and Compulsions, Panic Attacks, Prejudice / Discrimination, Religious & Other Beliefs, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), Self Esteem, Sexual Abuse & Violence, Rape, Sleep Disorders, Social Anxiety, Terminal  Illness, Pulling & Picking, Women's Issues.

However much your own issues are affecting you, you need not be alone. Most people can identify with at least a good handful of issues from the list above. The secret to effective therapy is in knowing how issue A can affect Issues B and C, which in turn affect Issues A and D. Issues are often (but not always) related. A good therapist can help you to untangle the strings connecting them, to bring clarity and therefore resolution to your issues.

Coaching & Mentoring

As an employer, you have certain responsibilities to your staff, including for their wellbeing at work.

Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) are employee benefit programmes offered by many employers in order to fulfil these responsibilities.

Depending on the desired level of assistance, EAPs may be commissioned for staff, or staff and immediate family.

EAPs are intended to help employees deal with personal problems that might adversely impact their work performance, health and well-being.

Typically, an EAP might cover issues such as bereavement, separation, divorce, stress and depression management, bullying and harassment, addiction and other related issues.

EAPs generally include an assessment phase, followed by a counselling and/or therapeutic phase. Finally, if required, a maintenance phase may be implemented.

Dee has more that ten years experience in the successful implementation of EAPs to SMEs and larger corporate organisations.

Remember, contented staff are more productive staff.

HOLISTIC THERAPIES -  REIKI / INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE / HAND MASSAGE / RELAXATION

All of these holistic therapies - Usui Reiki, Indian Hand Massage, Indian Head Massage and Guided Meditation / Relaxation - can be enjoyed in any combination as a treatment for general Stress Management and well-being.

The same therapies may also be indicated as a form of Holistic Support for Talking Therapies - Psychotherapy, NLP Therapy and Counselling - for example, to aid in physical relaxation.

Dee is happy to discuss this with you and advise you accordingly.

Identical to the personal therapy, but delivered in your workplace during the working day to a number of your staff. All except the Group Relaxation are confidential 1-2-1 sessions.

In order to treat as many of your staff as possible within time constraints, we recommend shorter sessions for our Corporate Holistic Service.

We always aim to strike a balance between staff well-being and the operational needs of your business. Dee is happy to discuss this with you prior to booking.

LJ

Amazing! Dee has come to our office once a week to help us with our health and well-being.

She has transformed our office into a SUPER productive environment with her advice on seating, furniture etc, and also chilled us out with Indian Head Massages for the team, and great conversation to help us unwind.

What a wonderful lady and I HIGHLY recommend you introduce her to your team.

When I first met Dee I was at my lowest I have been for years and I was searching for a way out!

Dee has not only helped me though the hard times she has helped me see who I am again.

I will be eternally grateful. She has become a very treasured friend in such a short space of time and I know we will be working together on my my mind for years to come.

She has helped me re write things in my head that didn't make any since and made me unhappy! Very talented lady and I would highly recommend xx

I was fortunate enough to be the first of many clients in the new therapy room in Northampton. I had a full Indian head massage which was awesome!

Working on computers all day can be tiring for the mind and running a business brings with it many stresses. It’s important to take time out and relax so the stress doesn’t overcome the already tired mind of a business owner.

That is exactly what my appointment with Dee Cox did; and will do for many more to come. If you run a business in the local area, I would highly recommend dropping in for digital detox and destress with Dee Cox!
